Faith
Formation
Fr. Robert
VerEecke, SJ, Pastor of St. Ignatius Church
in Newton (at Boston College) and the administrator
of St. Mary of the Angels in Roxbury and Fr.
Brendan P. Buckley, OFM Cap., Pastor of Our
Lady of Lourdes in Jamaica Plain, announce new
initiative:
Faith Formation at Our Lady of Lourdes and at
St. Mary of the Angels is about take a leap
that we hope will strengthen and expand our
programs and help us in our ongoing efforts
to ‘hand on’ the faith and to help
our parishioners, especially all the children
of the parish, to grow in that same faith which
has come down to us through the Apostles. The
Ministry of Faith Formation includes preparation
programs for all the Sacraments as well as RCIA
and our regular Religious Education programs.
We are now
entering a new phase in the life of our parishes
which will begin the development of a unified
program of Faith Formation for both parish communities
under the direction of one coordinator, Ana Rodriguez.
Ana has been selected to be the Coordinator of
Faith Formation and she will be working with Lourdes
Ortiz (from Our Lady of Lourdes) and Sr. Virginia
Mulhern (from St. Mary’s) and all the catechists
from both parishes to develop the best possible
program for formation in the faith that can be
offered.We are blessed
to have found such a competent coordinator. Ana
has been trained and received a Certificate in
Catechetical Instruction from the Archdiocese
of Boston and then went on to receive a Masters
Degree in Theology from the Institute for Religious
Education and Pastoral Ministry at Boston College.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in International
Relations and Business from the Universidad Nacional
Autónoma de México, Mexico City
in 1985 and was Certified in Theology and Biblical
Studies from the Universidad Pontificia de la
Ciudad de México, Mexico City in 1994.We
offer Ana our prayers and promise her our support
as she begins this new and exciting endeavor.
She will begin her ministry at the end of July. |
